About Southside Residences.

Southside Residences is a development of 146 apartments by Prosperity Developments on Kent Street, at the corner of Lower Essex Street in Birmingham's Southside district. The developer markets it as a boutique buy-to-let scheme of contemporary one and two-bedroom apartments.

Planning permission was granted in December 2023 for 111 one-bedroom and 35 two-bedroom apartments in a building of nine to 12 storeys. As part of the approval, Prosperity agreed to contribute £1.05m, rising to £1.3m if necessary, towards mitigating noise from the neighbouring Nightingale Club.

The scheme has since received Gateway Two approval from the Building Safety Regulator, after which construction is set to begin. Safer Sphere, the building safety consultancy that supported the application, gives an anticipated practical completion of Q3 2027.

Landscape design by FPCR includes rooftop terraces at level 9, a wildflower roof at level 12 and a shared, landscaped courtyard at ground level. Benhams lists zero ground rent and a payment plan spread across 30 months.
